Vivid artwork capturing a lively polar bear
CA$880.00
People peer down at a striking white polar bear who swims and then takes a break to look at the people. Oil paint on canvas panel 14 x 11 inches, plus frame.
This work was painted at the Toronto Zoo in summer of 2025. I paint a Polar Bear swimming in a pool. I am painting from life in situ, during a heat warning in summer, standing outdoors at an easel behind one way glass. I want to show what can be done without photos. Detail is scant due to the motion of the animal. I aim to show fleeting moments with joy and beauty and a prayer of thanksgiving. I am painting one animal in three positions at the Toronto Zoo. On this hot summer day, the bear sat up to have a look at the crowd and then swam around the pool. Signed lower left.
