Afternoon Nap

This 18 x 18 inch oil painting should be $1400 Canadian Dollars, but since it is of a warthog, and since it was neither painted on canvas nor canvas panel, I will offer it for the surprisingly low price of, well, 1/2 price.  I am pretty sure when Elton John wrote the melody to Hakuna Matata, that he was fully paid, but I am not Elton John.

     This piece is written about in my blog on this very website.  I found the frame by the side of the road and decided to gesso the backing and paint directly onto it.  That way, I would have a framed painting as soon as it was painted.  All I had to do was wait for it to dry and put it back into the frame.

This work will stand on its own or hang on a wall, by balancing  the frame itself on a nail in the wall.  I hope all of my dear collectors see this item.  While I was painting it, I did not know that the zoo has two wart hogs, a male and his sister. So, I don't know which one this is! I do know that as soon as the second one appeared, someone in the crowd shouted, "There are two Pumbaas!"  In my later research, I discovered that Pumbaa means foolish in Swahili, so I don't think the name suits this wart hog.
